Sean Campbell is an active physical therapist, educator and Athletic Performance and Rehabilitation Consultant based in North Vancouver, British Columbia. Sean’s journey to physiotherapy began as an elite athlete who suffered a series of injuries and found that physiotherapy allowed him not only to recover more quickly, but also to perform even better than he had before he was injured. Sean draws on his extensive academic training, clinical experience and elite performance background to help both athletes and active-livers of all ages reach their full potential, so they can achieve optimal performance without sacrificing their health or body.
Sean has been involved in elite sport for more than 25 years as an athlete, therapist and Performance Consultant. His competitive career highlights included the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, a Pan American Games gold medal and eight National Championships in field hockey.
As a competitor, Sean discovered that physiotherapy combined with the proper training techniques enabled him to maximize his performance and enhance his overall health both on and off the field. Since retiring from elite competition, Sean has worked as an Athletic Performance and Rehabilitation Consultant, travelling therapist and coach for national and provincial sport organizations, clubs and individual athletes at all levels in a variety of different sports. He has a special interest in youth sports focussing on education, injury prevention and management, and performance.
Sean’s approach to physiotherapy is rooted in the twin foundations of practical clinical experience and advanced academic research. Sean graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Masters of Physical Therapy. During his postgraduate career, he received numerous awards and distinctions for both academic achievement and original research, including a UBC Graduate Fellowship, the School of Rehabilitation Sciences Prize in Physical Therapy, the President’s Research Scholarship from the University of Victoria, and an NSERC Postgraduate Scholarship.
